November 19, 2013 (Niagara Falls, ON) – The Scotiabank Convention Centre, in Niagara Falls (SCCN) welcomed delegates, exhibitors and industry professionals from across North America, who came to Niagara Falls for the very first Canadian Innovation Conference, Powered by PCMA. Committee members of PCMA selected Niagara Falls and the Scotiabank Convention Centre as the ideal destination for this very special event, which ran from Sunday, November 10 and concluded on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.
“It was an honour to have been chosen by PCMA Canada East Chapter to host this very important conference,” said Jeff Dixon, Interim General Manager. “Our team and our regional partners were eager to show what great event opportunities are available in this destination.”
The 2013 Canadian Innovation Conference, Powered by PCMA was produced by the PCMA Canada East Chapter; and sought to bring together industry professionals from Ontario to Newfoundland to discuss the leading issues and challenges currently facing the conventions and meetings industry. Delegates took part in educational seminars that focused on business technology designs and management and leadership skills. This year, the conference featured a number of keynote speakers including: Randy Cass, Host of BNN Daily National Show, ‘Market Sense’; Ron Tite, Creative Thinking and Innovative Expert; and Amanda Lindhout, Kidnap Survivor, Author and Founder of the ‘Global Enrichment Foundation.’
On the second day of the conference, a 3 km walk and 5km run networking event gave meeting planners the opportunity to exercise both their minds and bodies while exploring the colourful sites and attractions in Niagara Falls. The conference concluded on Tuesday evening, as event sponsors, including the SCCN, brought attendees ‘back in time’ from the 50s to the 80s with a ‘Back to Your Future’ event themed after the 80s movie classic, ‘Back to the Future’. The closing reception took place in the Centre’s Fallsview Theatre and featured a wide array of culinary creations devised and executed by the Centre’s Executive Chef. Cool 80s music hits preceded a special performance by 80s music icon Alan Frew, former lead singer of ‘Glass Tiger’.
